Orange Clove Bath Fizzies

Pour yourself a soothing bath with our five minute recipe for Orange Clove Bath Fizzies. Soak in the natural benefits of antibacterial and antifungal coconut oil while it softens your skin. For rough areas, rub on epsom salts and orange rind to naturally exfoliate.

SUPPLIES:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove
  • 1 tablespoon orange rind, grated
  • 4 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 15 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 2 teaspoons witch hazel
  • 3 drops red soap colorant, optional
  • 4 drops yellow soap colorant, optional
  • glass bottles (or other airtight containers)

 

DIRECTIONS:

In a small bowl add coconut oil, sweet orange essential oil, and optional soap colorants.  Stir to combine and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine baking soda, cornstarch, epsom salt, and citric acid. Stir well. Add clove and grated orange rinds. Mix to combine. Using a whisk slowing add oil mixture, whisking constantly. Lightly spritz witch hazel into the mixture and continue to whisk until slightly damp and pliable in your hands.

Pour into bath fizzies into airtight containers and store for up to one month. Add a teaspoon or more into your next warm bath.

Simmering Winter Thyme Potpourri

Warm up your home this winter with simmering potpourri. Make just one for you or batch to gift.

SUPPLIES:

  • 8.5 x 11 inch white card stock
  • Scissors
  • 4 Small glassine bags
  • tape
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 medium apples
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 120 F degrees. Line two baking sheets with 2 layers of parchment paper. Set aside.

Slice oranges and apples into 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick slices. Layout slices on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 2 to 3 hours and let cool.

Fill each glassine bag with 1 cinnamon stick, 2 dried apples slices, and 2 dried orange slices. Print one sheet of bag toppers on card stock and cut out each.  Fold filled glassine bags and tape closed. Cover with bag toppers and tape to secure.

Follow the instructions on bag toppers to simmer.
